What We Treat
Dental Emergencies We See as Walk-Ins
We see walk-in patients for common dental emergencies that need attention soon.
Toothache
Throbbing or lasting tooth pain, or pain that wakes you at night, can signal decay or infection that needs a dentist.
Broken or cracked tooth
A chip, crack or break can expose the inner tooth and often gets worse if left alone.
Lost filling or crown
An uncovered tooth can be sensitive to hot and cold and is more likely to break.
Dental swelling
Swelling of the gums or around a tooth can be a sign of infection that should be checked soon.
Before You Arrive
What to Do Before You Come In
A few simple steps can ease discomfort and protect your tooth until you are seen.
Step 1
Call (954) 987-3309
Tell us what happened so we can check availability and prepare for your visit.
Step 2
Rinse gently
Rinse with warm water. For swelling, hold a cold compress on the outside of your cheek for short periods.
Step 3
Save any pieces
Keep broken tooth pieces or a lost crown in a clean container and bring them with you.
Step 4
Avoid that side
Chew on the other side and avoid very hot, cold or hard foods. Do not put aspirin directly on your gums, as it can irritate the tissue.
ER or Dentist?
When to Go to the ER Instead
Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you have symptoms that could affect your breathing or your overall health. A dental office is not the right place for these situations.
✓ Facial swelling with a fever, or swelling that is spreading quickly toward your eye or neck
✓ Trouble breathing or swallowing
✓ Jaw trauma, such as a possible broken jaw after a fall, accident or blow to the face
✓ Heavy bleeding that will not stop with firm pressure
Once you have been treated and are stable, we can help with follow-up dental care, such as treating the tooth that caused an infection or repairing a broken tooth.
Not sure which one you need?
If your problem is limited to a tooth or your gums and you feel otherwise well, a dentist is usually the right first stop. Call us at (954) 987-3309 and describe your symptoms. If anything you describe sounds like it needs emergency room care, we will tell you.
Your Visit
What Happens at a Walk-In Dental Visit
At a walk-in visit, our first goal is to find the cause of the problem and get you comfortable. Your dentist will examine the tooth, may take X-rays and will explain what is going on in plain language before any treatment.
Depending on what is found, treatment may happen the same day or be scheduled for a follow-up visit. Common treatments include:
✓ Fillings and repairs for cracked teeth
✓ Same-day crowns for broken or weakened teeth
✓ Root canals for infected teeth
✓ Tooth extractions when a tooth cannot be saved
If a tooth has to be removed, your dentist can talk with you about replacement options such as a dental implant later on. For more about urgent care, see our emergency dentist page.
Prevention
How to Avoid the Next Dental Emergency
Many dental emergencies can be prevented by catching small problems early. A small cavity or a worn filling is much easier and less costly to fix before it turns into a painful visit.
✓ Keep up with regular check-ups and cleanings
✓ Wear a mouthguard for contact sports
✓ Avoid chewing ice, hard candy and pens
✓ Ask about a night guard if you grind your teeth
✓ Do not ignore sensitivity, a loose filling or bleeding gums
FAQ
Walk-In Dentist FAQs
Do you accept walk-in dental patients in Hollywood, FL?
Yes. We welcome walk-ins for dental emergencies. Please call (954) 987-3309 before you come so we can check availability and prepare for you.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe or lasting toothache, a broken or cracked tooth, a lost filling or crown, and swelling around a tooth or gums are common dental emergencies.
When should I go to the ER instead of a dentist?
Go to the ER or call 911 for facial swelling with fever, trouble breathing or swallowing, jaw trauma or bleeding that will not stop.
What should I bring to a walk-in visit?
Bring a photo ID, a list of your medications and any broken tooth pieces or lost crown in a clean container.
Can you fix a broken tooth the same day?
Often, yes. Many repairs, including same-day crowns, can be done in one visit. Your dentist will confirm after examining the tooth.
Do you offer payment options?
Patients who qualify can use Affirm or CareCredit financing. Pre-qualification takes about 60 seconds and does not affect your credit score.
